My Favourite Author

             Joanne   Kathleen  Rowling 
     Joanne was born in Chipping Sodbury, England and was educated at Exter University. She studied French there and spent one year in Paris.  J.K.Rowling now lives with her husband and daughter in Edinburg. Ms.Rowling was born in 1965 and grew up in Chepstow,Gwent. Before she became a professional author. She was a secretary and taught English in Portugal. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was mostly written in a cafe on Edinburg's South Bridge. When Joanne's daughter was born, the first book in the Harry Potter set was about one quarter finished. The first Harry Potter book was published in June 1997 and was published by Broomsbury Children's Books. Since the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was so popular, it won the Smarties Book Prize Gold Medal, the FCBG Children's Book Award, the Birmingham Cable Children's Book Award, Young Telegraph Paperback of the Year and so on. The second book was published in July 1998. Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban was published one year later on July 8,1999.
     Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was published on July 8, 2002 with record first print run of 1 million and quickly broke all records for the greatest number of books sold on the first day of publication, as well as shooting to the top of the bestseller charts.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
       Harry Potter goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the first time. He gets sorted into the house, Griffindor.Harry and his new friends,Ron and Hermione go to the forbidden area on the third floor and soon find themselves looking at a three-headed dog. After a lot of research, they figure out that Fluffy (the three headed dog)is guarding the Philosopher's Stone.
         About a week later, the three children, Harry,Ron and Hermione get the courage to go find the Philosopher's Stone. They go through a big plant puzzle, a "Get the right key" game, a fight with a troll, a game of Wizard's Chess,  and a potions puzzle. Later, Harry fights once again with the powerful Lord Voldemort and Harry wins again!
